Bansuri – the Indian Bamboo Flute, has been a companion & a way of musical expression of Paras Nath since his early childhood. Born & hailing from a renowned family of musicians of Varanasi who have traditionally played for over two and half centuries, Paras has taken to music by inheritance. A young man, beaming with iridescent energy of his youth contrasted with a grounded personality having highly mature musical sensibilities; Paras has delved into the realms of Shashtriya Sangeet (Indian Classical Music) for more than 15 years now.

He is the younger son of Pandit Amar Nath, one of the legendary Flutists this country has produced and a great composer known for his 'Vadya Vrind' orchestral endeavors.

Paras got an invaluable opportunity to learn & live the finer nuances of Indian Classical Music under the most able guidance of his Guru, his own father.

But being a part of a Great Legendary Family, Paras could also learn & observe his own Grand Father Pandit Shiv Nath Prasad, the Indian Shehnai Maestro. His grandfather introduced the flute in his family for the first time and also in his Gharana which otherwise is known for shahnai playing.

Paras has been also blessed to get trained & guided by his Uncle Guru, Shree Dinesh Kumar. It was however under the tutelage of his father Pandit Amar Nath, he learnt the finer skills and artistic intricacies which helped him to blossom as a concert player of great merit.

At the very young age he possessed a good command over flute. His recitals were methodical with emphasis on Gayaki Ang. Consistency in sur & laya is the hallmark of his playing.

This talented young man has not only imbibed the subtle nuances of Banaras Gharana but also presented the same in a very beautiful way. He is at ease with the light classical modes like thumri, chaiti, kajri, dhun and can play them with equal aplomb and telling effects.

Paras Nath and his older brother Pankaj Nath, known to music connoisseurs and audiences as The Nath Brothers. Both of them play the Flute in the jugalbandi style of Hindutani classical music which is first of its kind. They try to establish the 'Gayaki ang' in our recitals and try to present it with great coordination.
